Multimedia Computing Systems Laboratory (MCSLab) is led by Prof. Eun-Seok Ryu and consists of two teams (video standard team and video enabling team). MCSLab conducts research on Moving Picture Experts Group (MPEG) and Video Coding Experts Group (VCEG) international standards for a virtual reality (VR) and their streaming applications.
Detailed research topics include (1) MPEG Immersive Video (MIV) capturing technologies using movable robots, (2) MIV compression technologies for 6-degree of freedom(6DoF) VR service, and (3) Implicit Neural Visual Representation (INVR) carrying out exploration experiments on implicit neural 3D video representation and compression.
Intelligent Video Compression by using deep-learning technologies are emerging research topic in multimedia compression, and we MCSLab will play a key role in the research!
